Interesting. I reviewed Solar-worx right here three months ago and can’t find it anywhere. Never mind. Do you know the old saying, “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.”

Well, 70% of what Solar-worx did was amazing. But it’s the other 30% that got stuck.

The presale process and explanations of everything was perfect. The panels and inverter and battery were supposed to be here two weeks later (amazing given covid transport and logistics issues) but even more amazingly they arrived within one week.

The installation process was extraordinary and took place in another four days. Amazing again. They’d even hired a crane thing to get everything on to the roof quickly. Two days and it was all in and ready to go. Again, just amazing..

    And then ..

Almost two months for Inspector to come out and verify it all. Essential to get officially connected to the grid and to get a rebate for fedding excess power into the grid. Yes, Xmas holidays. Yes, covid. Yes, everyone is busy. But I didn’t enjoy chasing people up. Finally after seven weeks, inspector approves it, but paperwork has to come through to Solar-worx. Takes a little while and again took phone calls I found uncomfortable to make.

Finally, eight or nine weeks after I signed on the dotted line, today the paperwork went to my electricity retailer. They in turn submit an order to the actual electricity distributor to ‘reconfigure’ the system and my meter to account for the solar system. The electricity distributor has up to twenty days to do this. Sighhhhhhhh.

So my friends, it’s like buying a car, a great car, and then finding you need to separately buy wheels, get the car registered, windscreen approved, work out what fuel to put into it, source the fuel, get approval to use it, fill in the forms, get them approved, and buy maps, so you can go to the shops to buy milk.

Heartily recmend the guys at Solar-worx, and the installers were great. *** But there’s quite a bit more to it all than that. Don’t buy ANY solar system until you have worked out who does what, when, AND find out when you’ll be getting power from the sun, AND actually get clear understandings of when you’ll actually start getting money for the surplus power you put into the grid.

Oh, and also, work out whether you are investing in enough panels, and a big enough battery, to take you through an average night. I probably will need a second battery, but I will wait till winter to see how much power my panels will produce.

AND check up on what various electricity retailers offer once you tell them you’re going solar, ** because rates change after that!! **

Bottom line? I’m very happy with the system. Took more angst than I expected.

I was very happy with the installation and service from Solar Worx. They had been referred to me as a very professional installer and that was re-affirmed to me by the Solar Vic inspector who said the job was completed to a high standard.
    I would thoroughly recommend them.

Recently upgraded to a larger solar system ..we chose SOLAR WORX as our installer..everything went smoothly as far as appointments and times.. the installers were here when they said they would be we didn’t have to wait around for them to come..they were very polite and worked very efficiently and cleaned up as they worked..no mess for us to clean up..our neighbour actually remarked on what a great tidy job they had done and how good the panels looked..when the inverter inspector came to do the inspection he said that whoever installed the system had done a great job..now we just have to sit back and hopefully save some cash
