All Hyundai panels have been approved by the Clean Energy Council. They also meet the standards for the Australian Government rebate system. The models available in Australia include:

  • RG Series
  • SG Series
  • VG Series
  • UF Series

RG Series

The Hyundai RG series boasts a high efficiency of 18.9%, placing them among the best solar panels in the market.

Features

  • Monocrystalline silicon type
  • PERC cell technology
  • 18.0% to 18.9% module efficiency
  • 12-year product warranty on materials and workmanship

Cell technology

These panels utilize the PERC technology that provides ultra-high efficiency with better performance in low irradiation. This maximizes their installation in limited space.

PERC cell technology improves the efficiency of standard cells. It maximizes energy output due to the higher energy conversion, making it a more cost-effective technology.

Efficiency

The efficiency of RG Series panels is incredibly high. In the initial year, the panels exhibited an efficiency of 97.6%, which is seen in other top brands such as LG and SunPower. By the end of 30 years, the panels’ efficiency stands at 80.2%.

Warranty/ Guarantee

Hyundai RG Series solar panels come with a 12-year product warranty covering materials and workmanship. This warranty meets the industry standard. Most high-end solar panels come with a 25-year product warranty, but this does not mean that Hyundai panels are less effective.

The panels also offer a 30-year performance warranty, which compensates for the short material warranty. This warranty offers peace of mind due to the power output guarantee for your home for 30 years.

Peak Performance

Under optimum conditions, the maximum output of these panels is 310W with a module efficiency of 18.9%.

These panels also perform excellently with a low -0.40% temperature coefficient of Pmax and a nominal operating solar cell temperature of 46 degrees Celsius.

Why Hyundai solar panels?

Hyundai Heavy Industries Green Energy, a subsidiary of Hyundai Heavy Industries, has been manufacturing solar energy since 2005 and produces Tier 1 solar modules. This company has been in business for a long time, giving you security and confidence that they will still be operating when the panels’ lifetime ends.

Each Hyundai solar panel comes with a 10-year product warranty and a 25-year performance warranty (30-year performance warranty for the RG series). Hyundai’s performance warranty is higher than the average market offer.

Hyundai Solar provides panels with a high module efficiency of 19.0%. The per-square-foot power generation of the panels is much higher than most brands in the industry.

All the Hyundai solar panels meet the Australian Government Initiative standards. The panels have gone through and passed all UL/VDE lab tests at the Hyundai Research and Development Centre, an accredited test laboratory for the UL and VDE global safety certifications.

Hyundai solar panels are tough enough to withstand the harsh conditions in Australia. Their mechanical strength is unmatched as they can withstand strong winds and heavy snow. Therefore, these panels have been approved to be installed in the Northern Territory.

Cell technology

Hyundai solar panels feature PERL (Passivated Emitter Rear Locally-Diffused solar cell), PERC (Passive Emitter and Rear Cell), and shingled cell technologies.

PERL cell technology

The monocrystalline PERL cells adopt the Local Black Surface Field technology on their backside. PERL combines both PERC and PERT technologies to produce higher-efficiency cells. PERL monocrystalline cells’ front and rear surfaces are passivated like PERC cells.

What sets these two technologies apart is that for PERL cells, the rear surface is locally diffused at the metal contacts only to decrease the recombination rate and maintain a good electrical contact at the same time.

At the module level, a higher open-circuit voltage can be reached for the N-type PERL solar cells featuring a low-doped boron emitter and SiO2 passivated rear. Besides, the high conversion efficiency of about 22% or more can be achieved by PERL solar cells featuring a high surface concentration boron emitter and a passivated PECVD SiN x rear.

PERL cells have a high life expectancy and can achieve an efficiency of up to 25%.

PERC cell technology

PERC technology cells feature an additional dielectric passivation layer on the rear surface. This aims to increase the energy conversion of the cells for high energy output. The dielectric passivation layer also reduces electric recombination that may block electrons’ free flow through the cell. This increases the efficiency of the module.

The light-capturing ability of the cell is also increased, producing more energy that makes the cells efficient.

Shingled Cell Technology

Typically, conventional solar panels consist of 60 to 72 solar cells that are electrically connected using metallic busbars. The solar cells have gaps around them, allowing busbars to cross over, linking them together.

Shingled solar panels are quite different from conventional half-cut solar panels. A shingled solar panel is split 5 times. Therefore, if 1/5th of the panels are shaded, the standard half-cell only pumps 50% of electricity. In comparison, shingled solar panel pumps up to 80%, feeding an additional 30% of electricity into your solar inverter.

Hyundai company history

Hyundai is one of the largest companies in the world, widely known for its car manufacturing business. This company was founded in 1947, and it currently holds the third position in auto manufacturing globally.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, a division of the Hyundai Group, was formed in 1972 and is a global leader and innovator in renewable energy. HHI employs over 48,000 employees and is a worldwide leader with over $30 billion in revenue. The company entered the solar industry in 2005 as Hyundai Green Energy but was later renamed Hyundai Energy Solutions in 2019.

Hyundai Solar set foot in the Australian solar Market in 2009 and has an office in Martin Place, Sidney. In 2011, the company exited the Australian market leaving many unhappy customers, but it began resupplying solar modules in Australia in 2018. Currently, they have signed up distribution agreements with several supply partners, including Solar Juice.

With an Australian office, homeowners can be assured that their warranty claims will be addressed immediately. Also, it will be much easier and faster to contact the company in case of any quality and performance issues with the panels.
